Jacques Sernas heads the cast as a Roman gladiator sent on a diplomatic mission to Greece. The plot congeals when Sernas falls in love with Gianni Santuccio, daughter of the head of the anti-Rome faction. The Loves of Hercules finds our hero away from home when his wife is murdered by the Ecalians. After a little conniving on the part of Licos, Hercules stands accused of murder and when trying to clear his name, he falls in battle against the Hydra. After being cared for by the Amazons and their leader Queen Hippolyta, who means to kill him when she is finished with him, he escapes, raises an army and heads back to Ecalia to deal with Licos, rescue Deianira and live happily ever after.

When his village is attacked by raiders who kidnap all of the women folk, including his fiance Julia (Leonora Ruffo), Maciste (Gordon Scott) and his young companion Giro (Rocco Vitolazzi) set out to get the women back. The pair follow the raiders to Salmanak, an island state that is ruled by Sultan Abdul (Mario Feliciani) who is himself controlled by Kobrak (Guido Celano), a blood-drinking monster who possesses formidable magical powers and commands an army of zombie-like soldiers. Maciste links up with a mysterious alchemist, Kurtik (Jacques Sernas), who asks him to assist in destroying Kobrak. Maciste accepts Kurtik's request in return for his assistance in finding Julia. Unfortunately, Kobrak has instructed Astra (Gianna Maria Canale), his female servant-cum-spy within the Sultan's palace, to give Julia to the Sultan in an attempt to curb the monarch's increasingly rebellious outbursts. $15

Not a remake of the 1925 silent film as this story is much different.
In this film, Maciste gets sucked down in to Hell by the witch who has cursed the earth above, as well as an unfortunate newlywed couple. To undo this curse, Maciste must battle with the witch and overcome the many obstacles that she will bestow on him. Heavily edited down to 76 minutes and released under the title “The Witch’s Curse” for U.S. audiences in an attempt to pass it off as a strict horror film. This is the full uncut 87 minute version in original Italian with English subtitles.
